Member Representing Gubio, Kaga and Magumeri Federal Constituency in Borno state, Hon. Usman Zannah has commended the foresight of the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Engineer Mustapha Maihaja and other stakeholders for the prompt approval and delivery of assorted relief items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)/victims of Boko Haram sect in his constituency.
He also appreciated Governor of his state, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for facilitating delivery and prompt endorsement of his request letter respectively to NEMA which prompted immediate release of the relief items.
Recalled that many people in his constituency were displaced in recent attacks by insurgents and fire outbreak, in which, over 600 people had so far benefitted from food and non- food items.
The Lawmaker who is the Deputy House Committee on Basic Education stated this during the official handing/presentation of the relief items in Gubio town for onward distribution to beneficiaries in the presence of NEMA, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) officials, Security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups and politicians devoid of party affiliations.
Represented by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmen of Magumeri, Kaga and Gubio, Alhaji Kaka Mohammed, Alhaji Monguno and Alhaji Dogo at the event, Zannah said “the gesture was borne out of the desire to cushion their hardships and improve standard of living of the people of his constituency”.
He noted that the distribution of the relief items would complement efforts of the State Government towards alleviating the suffering of the masses, especially the victims.
While enjoin the Chairmen and the Team to ensure judicious distribution of the items and cooperation of the beneficiaries, also expressed happiness for their resilience and patience, promising that, as their representative, he will leave no stone unturned to put smile on their faces at all times, irrespective of party affiliations.
The Lawmaker however called on the people of the constituents to unite and be prayerful for peace to reign and give their maximum support to the All Progressive Congress (APC) led-government which is committed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the electorates.
Among the items donated are assorted bags of parboiled rice, maize, beans, iodized salt, cartons of Tin Tomatoes, kegs of Palm/vegetable Oil and mattresses.
Others include mats, mosquito nets, sets of blankets, dozens of building materials such as bags of cement, bundles of zinc and roofing nails. End
