Lateef Kayode Jakande, LKJ, First Civilian Governor Of Lagos, Dies At 91

Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, popularly called LKJ by political allies is dead.
The first civilian Governor of Lagos State on the platform of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, led by the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, between 1978 and 1983, died in the early hours of today at the age of 91.
Jakande, a former journalist and publisher of the defunct Lagos News was Minister of Works under the late Gen. Sani Abacha military regime.
Till today, his administration as governor of Lagos State is celebrated for the massive infrastructural development especially in the education and housing sectors recorded during his four-year tenure.
