Lagos State Govt. conducts test for model college candidates

The Lagos State Government has conducted the 2019 Screening Test for about 11,000 candidates seeking admission into Lagos State Junior Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools.

Speaking during the examination monitoring exercise on Saturday, the Director, Administration and Human Resources in the State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folashade Lediju commended the peaceful conduct of the screening test, while reiterating the determination of the present administration to improve the quality of education in the state.

According to her, “The conduct of the examination is satisfactory and well organised. The serene and peaceful atmosphere of the exercise can also be attributed to the facilities and conducive environment put in place by the state government”.

She noted that more parents are now being encouraged to send their children to State Public Schools in view of the enormous investment facilities and provision of free qualitative education for every child by the state government.

In his remarks, the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Dr. Oluwafemi Hassan disclosed that each year, the State government always ensure that there is an improvement in the conduct of the examination over the previous years, adding that the beauty of the 2019 screening test was that each question paper has a characteristic feature that consists of randomization of questions, code, exam number, date of birth, name and picture of individual candidate.

“These characteristic features, eliminates the practice of exchange of questions and answers, dictation of answers to the pupils by the invigilators. Also, the randomization of questions and answers without any form of resemblance and similarities has reduced exam malpractices in the state to the minimal”, he stated.

While noting that the screening test was held simultaneously in 43 designated centres across the state, Hassan declared that the state government is determined, not only to maintain the current standard of education in the state but to significantly improve on it on a yearly basis.
