…Govt donates ten new patrol vans

Kwara State Government has strengthened her partnership with the State Police Command as it commences ‘Operation Harmony Tactical Team’.

The new security watch outfit witnessed a donation of 10 new 4-Wheel Drive patrol vans as a gesture from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who handed over the vehicles at a ceremony on the grounds of the Government House, Ilorin.

In his brief remarks, Governor AbdulaRazaq said the fully equipped patrol vehicles would fully aid and help to strengthen security of lives and properties as well as building the required confidence within the State’s business community.

The tactical team is a combined security outfit under the State Command of the Nigeria Police.

The gesture was said to be the third of its kind in the governor’s administration of was giving out operational vehicles to the police in order to beef up the required security needed in the state. Similarly, patrol vehicles had been donated to other security agencies in Kwara State by the government.

At the brief handing over ceremony to the State Police Commissioner; Mr. Paul Odama AbdulRazaq, said: “We are supporting our security agencies by giving them additional equipments to make their jobs easier. As you have seen, the security issue in the country is getting better daily. We want to keep it that way.”

He commended the Police and other security agencies in Kwara State for their gallantry efforts in making the State what it is as one of the adjudged safest states in Nigeria.

“Kwara State is arguably the safest State in Nigeria. We are doing our best to keep it that way by ensuring that the citizens remain safe. And, part of what we need to do is to keep supporting our security agencies.

“I thank them for the work they have been doing to allow us have the confidence to sleep with our eyes closed at night. We are truly grateful for the efforts,” he said.

Odama appreciated the Governor for always responding to their operational needs, promising that the police would not to let the State government in particular and the good people of the State down through a good policing of the North Central State. 

“I am really thankful to Your Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State for giving us these vehicles. As you rightly said, Kwara State is one of the most peaceful states in the country presently. And, we need to keep that position and even improve on it,” he said.

The police chief also thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alkali Baba Usman for playing an important role in the quest to make sure that every part of the country is properly policed.

The event was attended by some cabinet members and party executives, including the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Mamman Saba Jubril; Special Adviser on Security, General Tunde Bello (rtd); Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Aliyu Muyideen as well as the State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Prince  Sunday Fagbemi.
