JUST IN: Rep Member Jailed for Lying

A law maker at the House of Representatives, Victor Mela Danzaria (representing Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency of Gombe State), has been jailed for one month for lying under oath.

A Wuse Magistrate’s Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, which handed him the jail term, held that the convict had lied while filling the INEC Form CD001 before the 2019 general election. He was, however, given an option of fine.

The lawmaker who belongs to the All Progressives Congress ( APC) was known to have played vital roles in proposing a great number of  bills, including: Compulsory, Free Universal Basic Education (Establishment) Act (Ammendment) Bill, 2019, Federal Medical Centre, Billiri, Gombe State (Establishment) Bill, 2020, National Fire Administration (Establishment) Bill, 2019, among others.

As at the time of filing this report, the lawmaker was still running around to pay his fine and secure his release.
