Just in: Ex-sports minister dies, buried in Abuja

A former Minister of Sports, Bala Ka’oje has been reported dead, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed few moments ago.

According to NFF, Kaóje, 60, died this morning, Tuesday, January, 19, and has been buried according to Islamic rites.

Announcing the Ka’oje passing few momemts ago, the spokesman of NFF, Ademola Olajire, said, “The Nigeria Football Federation expresses its shock and sadness at the passing of the former minister, with the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, describing the deceased as a dignified and unassuming public servant who showed great passion and interest in the development and improvement of Nigeria sports. He was quietly intelligent, diligent and a man of high integrity who also displayed great passion for the advancement of the then Nigeria Football Association (NFA), besides other sports organizations,” the statement mourned.

Born in Kebbi State on September 20, 1960, Bala Bawa Ka’oje earned a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

At the interment of his remains this afternoon, the NFF was represented by its General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, with the Head of Member Associations, Ali Abubakar Muhammed, on hand to offer him support.
