The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is repositioning its Quality and Assurance Department (QAD) for more efficient service delivery.

JAMB, in conjunction with Professor Adai Ibrahim, Director of Quality Assurance and Productivity of Education Leadership and Human Services, Federal University of Technology, Minna, is carrying out the restructuring in line with global best practices.

Prof Ibrahim, an authority on Quality Assurance, until his appointment with FUT, Minna, was with the famous Florida State University, USA, for decades.

JAMBulletin, a weekly publication of the Office of the Registrar of JAMB in its latest edition made available on Sunday to The State Online by Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Spokesman said “As part of the measures to achieve the set objectives, the erudite scholar had interfaced with all the Departments where he was adequately briefed on the functions and operations of the Board.”
Prof Ibrahim, in a chat with JAMBulletin, said he was in the Board to reposition the QAD to meet the challenges of the 21st century workplace. He said “What we are doing now is understanding the various Units, Divisions and Departments so as to ensure that they synergize more with their sister departments.”

He said he was impressed with “all the presentations from the various Departments and in particular, Quality Assurance and Psychometrics, which are watchdogs of the Board in terms of assuring quality service and products. At the end of the repositioning process, the Board would be able to consolidate on its leading position in the assessment industry.”
Prof Ibrahim commended the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Is-Haq Oloyede for his determination to reposition the Department as well as the transformations he has carried out at JAMB since his assumption of office.

In her own remarks, the Director, QAD, Dr (Mrs) Beatrice Okorie, thanked Professor Oloyede for the re-positioning initiative, stating that at the end of the exercise, the impact of the Department would be more felt in all the operations of JAMB terms of a robust and streamlined service delivery.
She said “The present QAD had its roots in the former Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Division. It is highly gratifying that the Registrar is determined to turn around the fortunes of the Department. At the end of the exercise, I hope to see the staff of the Department empowered to take their rightful place in the transformational agenda of the present leadership of the Board.”
