No fewer than 726 staff of the Board sat for the 2020 Promotion Examination which was held in twelve (12) of its Professional Testing Centres (PTC) nationwide namely, National Headquarters, Kogo, Asaba, Ekiti, Ibadan, Jalingo, Kano, Makurdi, Minna, Osogbo, Umuahia and Ilorin.
The promotion examination was conducted in line with the Public Service Rules for deserving officers. Out of the seven hundred and twenty six members of staff recommended for promotion, seven hundred and sixteen members took the examination.

According to Public Service Rules, promotion to various cadres or levels varies. Those on Grade Level 01 to 06 take two years to progress to another level, while those on Grade Level 07 to 14 and 15 to 17 cadre take three and four years respectively.
The examination was conducted using the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode with the staff answering questions on computers as was done with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The early conduct of the examination is to finalise all processes so as to enable every eligible staff to to have their promotions on the exact effective date.
