JAIZ Bank closes branch, directs staff who attended burial of COVID-19 victim to go for 14-day quarantine

JAIZ Bank Plc says it has directed a staff in its Ilorin, Kwara State branch who attended the burial of a COVID-19 victim to go for the mandatory 14-day self isolation.

The management of the bank also announced closure of the branch, according to a statement released on Tuesday, April 07, 2020.

The statement reads: Our attention has been drawn on one of our staff in Ilorin Main Branch, Kwara State that attended a burial of a deceased who unfortunately died from the Covid-19 outbreak. In line with best standards and our Covid-19 response plans, we directed for the Staff to go back home for a mandatory self-quarantine immediately and we have temporarily closed the branch and asked ALL staff at the location to observe self-quarantine for a period of 14 days in line with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines to ensure the wellbeing of our employees, customers and stakeholders. The branch will be disinfected to eliminate any cause for alarm.

While we are hopeful that no employee would be affected as a result of the unfortunate incidence, we are also mindful of the seriousness of the pandemic which necessitated our proactive measures. We encourage all our customers and stakeholders to adhere to outlined steps that would help curb the spread of the virus, amongst which are maintaining high hygiene standards, social distancing and regular washing of hands with water and soap.
