Reims’ president Jean-Pierre Caillot has given an update on Arsenal’s reported target Axel Disasi.
“I know the interest of Sevilla, of course. But it will not be easy. At this time, the player is closer to the Premier League,” Caillot told Spanish news outlet ABC.
Is it Arsenal? The interviewer asked? “It could be. But I am not saying more about it because its confidential data.” The Reims president retorted.
According to reports in France and England, Arsenal have already formally contacted Reims over Disasi.
The defender was ever-present for Reims this season who sit 5th in the table. The French side registered the best defensive record among clubs in Ligue 1 clubs conceding just 21 goals in 28 games. This record is also the second best defensive achievement in all top five European league next only to Real Madrid.
As per the RMC, the 22-year-old will be available for €15m (£13m) in the summer.
However, it’s not yet clear how much Arsenal are ready to spend in the summer. So, any permanent transfers that involve cash are doubtful.
