An intending Army couple has been gruesomely killed and beheaded on their way to Imo State for their traditional marriage rites, reliable source close to the Nigerian Army has disclosed.
Army spokesman, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, who confirmed this, gave the intending groom’s name as Sergeant A.M Linus while his yet-to-be-named bride was simply identified as a Lance Corporal in the Army, noting that both were travelling for their traditional marriage rites in Imo State, South-East of Nigeria, when the incident occurred on Saturday.
He said both Army personnel had their bodies butchered by their attackers after gruesomely murdering them.
Nwachukwu said: “The military personnel were travelling for their traditional marriage formalities in Imo State when they were attacked by the gunmen. This is a very dastardly act unleashed on our personnel by some criminals,” adding that the authorities of the Nigerian Army had commenced investigations into the incident with a view to unmasking the evil doers and bringing them to book, and treating them as real criminals which they are.
Discreet investigations, however, revealed that the killing may have been masterminded by the murdered bride’s bossom friend, as a phone conversation allegedly linked to a suspected gunman who admitted to the killing, said so.
The suspected gunman, in addition, was said to have expressed misgivings over how the military was repeatedly killing innocent citizens in their community and decided to avenge./SHARE THIS
