For using her hard earned savings to marry another woman, a Nigerian lady named Olaitan Adonis, has committed suicide beholding her boyfriend, identified as Ola Saheed, jilt her and using her to marry a peferred woman. She said she would rather end it all instead of being humiliated this way.
A mother of a seven-year-old son, Olaitan had been in serious relationship with Saheed, leading to her saving money in his (the young man’s) bank account. Saheed, it was alleged, waited until the account balance grew up to appreciable figure, when he used the money to marry his actual lover over the weekend.
The devastated Olaitan, upon receiving the news, was said to have consumed a poisonous substance to end it all, asking ‘what’s life about?’
Revealing the incident yesterday, one of her friends said: “I heard they were together last Thursday, September 8, they even spent the night together, but on Friday, a friend of hers told her the supposed fiancé is getting married on Sunday, September 11. She was said to have consumed a poisonous substance and died the following day, Saturday, September 10, saying ‘over my dead body’.”
The employer of the deceased who also spoke on the tragic incident, said, “my salesgirl (Olaitan) has been giving him money from my shop for upkeep, but he squandered the whole money. She even sent him N10k on Friday. After she ended it all, we called him and he said it’s none of his business.”
