The Enugu State Police Command has given vivid account of how the state’s ex-judge, Justice Stanley Nnaji, was killed yesterday, May 30, while driving in his Mercedes Benz Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), in the Enugu metropolis.
Justice Nnaji was reportedly shot on the chest and robbed of his SUV, by the assailants numbering three who were seen in a viral video double-crossing him at a point around the Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu, on Sunday evening. They dragged him out of his car, killed him and drove his car away, the police said, statting that, following this, they have spread their dragnet with a view to tracking down the fleeing assailants.
Giving a vivid account of the incident, Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, said the gunmen trailed and shot dead the victim and carted his car away at about 5pm, Sunday.
Issuing a statement on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Aliyu, Ndukwe said, the victim “was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead and was deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
He assured that no stone would be left unturned with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects and bringing them to justice, while urging residents of the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant and always assist police with useful information at all times.
