Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who  confirmed the attack to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Wednesday evening in Awka, said he “was sure of an attack in a gathering in Isuofia community where Prof. Soludo and other personalities gathered for a meeting, but not sure of the killings.”

“I can confirm that there was  a gathering in Isuofia community where Prof. Soludo and other personalities gathered for a meeting on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

“For now, we can only speak of the gun shots, but other details, especially on whether there were causalities or not will be when we get more facts,” the PPRO said.

But eye witnesses insisted that the attack was, indeed, bloody, leading to the death of four mobile police security guarding the venue. The witnesses squealed that the gunmen came in and made straight for the policemen, to prevent a possible reprisal, adding that Soludo was spirited away in the process.
