He said President Muhammadu Buhari, who presided over the meeting, approved the project, a multipurpose dam initiative with provision for water supply, irrigation and 20 megawatts hydropower station.

He said, “All we intend to do at the federal level is to complete the dam and then hope that we can get a concessionaire to take over the hydropower component which includes the construction of power house, the turbines and the transmission lines,” adding that the contract sum is actually N8.14billion, taxes inclusive, with a completion period of 24 months.

“It consists of the completion of the dam embankment, spring lay and outlet works for the water supply and hydropower component, 20 kilometers of access road as well as rehabilitation of some service quarters,” he further stressed.
