Fears gripes INEC staff in Jigawa as kidnappers whisk away staff

Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have whisked away an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Mahadi Hassan.
The HOD, Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Mr John Kaiwa, confirmed this to newsmen at the premises of the Commission in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
He disclosed that Hassan who has been missing since last Friday was abducted along Kano-Gwiwa road in jigawa state.
The police authorities in Jigawa confirmed the incident, but insisted that there was no formal complaint filed by either INEC or the family of the affected INEC staff.
However, The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bala Zama, who spoke to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Mahmoud Isah on the phone, said that the kidnappers have contacted the family requesting for ransom.
