
FDI: PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI, GOVS SANI-BELLO, GODWIN OBASEKI,
ABUBAKAR BADARU, WALE TINUBU OTHER GLOBAL PLAYERS ATTEND DUBAI INVESTMENT MEETING
…URGE WORLD LEADERS TO ENSURE INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE AND SAFE DIGITAL WORLD
President Muhammadu Buhari, Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar
Sani-Bello, Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and Jigawa State
Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru attended the opening ceremony of the
9th Dubai Investment Meeting (AIM 2019) at the World Trade Centre in
Dubai. United Arab Emirate.
The Annual Investment Meeting, which is an initiative of UAE Ministry
of Economy is the World Leading Platform for Foreign Direct Investment
(FDI) attracting participants from over 140 countries.
The event which theme is : Mapping the Future of FDI: Enriching
World Economics Through Digital Globalization is “the largest global
investment gathering of corporate leaders, policy makers, businessmen,
leading academics and experts showcasing up-to-date information,
strategies and knowledge on attracting FDI. It aims to connect
businesses and countries willing to engage in sustainable partnerships
with investors.”
Theme of the event was chosen to offer global leaders platform to
discuss impact of digital globalization, how policies can be set in
place to encourage an innovative investment atmosphere, the need to
create long-term investment opportunities, and how to attract and
develop skills, talents from across the world.”
In his keynote address, President Muhammadu Buhari urged world leaders
to ensure inclusive, accessible and safe digital space noting that
digital world has become a frontier for good and evil.
“On the one hand, it has made the human race more productive and
efficient. Today, we have digital banking, virtual currencies and many
social platforms that connect people and cultures.
On the other hand, we have seen platforms hijacked and manipulated as
evidenced by the steady rise in fake news and cybercrimes.
More recently, we are also witnessing the use of cyberspace to
manipulate elections, subvert the democratic rights of citizens as
well as propagate violence. ”
Also with President Muhammadu Buhari were Minister of Foreign ,
Geoffrey Onyeama , Executive Secretary, Nigerian Investment
Promotion, NIPC, Yewande Sadiku and Special Assistant to the
President on Diaspora, Hon Abike Dabiri.
Nigeria’s oil magnate, Group Chief Executive, Oando Plc, Mr Adewale
Tinubu was among leading global private sector leaders who shared his
thought on digital globalization.
