Afrobeat maestro, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has been nominated for induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 2021, and his ardent followers are pretty excited over this.
Nominated alongside Fela are such jam exponents as: JAY-Z, Dionne Warwick, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden and Carole King, and the level of excitement over this, has the potentials of earning him an induction on his first-ever nomination, although coming post-humously.
Particularly, the ‘Beast of No Nation’ crooner will be squaring up with such other box office smashers as Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner, LL Cool J and Chaka Khan who made the 16-man list of nominees announced Wednesday, February 10.
Also included in the nomination list are: Todd Rundgren, Kate Bush, the New York Dolls, Devo and Rage Against the Machine.
In the estimation of the chairman, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Skyles, “this remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates,” adding that “these nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”
According to him, fans are expected to vote for up to five nominees daily from Wednesday, February 10 till the 30th of April on the Rock Halls website, even as the winners of the 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which takes place in Cleveland, Ohio, will be inducted in May 2021./SHARE THIS
