Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi Meets LGA Chairmen On Tackling Gender Violence

Ekiti State first Lady, Her Excellency Erelu Bisi-Adeleke Fayemi  together with members of Ekiti State Gender Based Violence (GBV) Management committee met with Chairs of the 16 Local Government Areas in the State.

 

The first Lady made the following requests to be executed in their various local government areas in the state.

Sensitize Local Government Staff on the existence of the GBV Law and the consequences of perpetrating or covering up GBV

• Train Community Development Officers on Women and Children GBV Case Management and Reporting

• Sponsor sensitization/awareness campaigns on the GBV law

• Establish and maintain a Sexual Assault Referral Centre at the LGAs

• Establish a Women’s Shelter or Safe House in each LGA
• Collaborate with the police in the LGAs to ensure complaints are heard promptly and professionally

• Work with traditional rulers to stem the tide of GBV in the LGAs
