The NAGGMDP President, who stated this at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, applauded Governor Abiodun for the prompt payment of doctors’ and other health workers’ salaries, saying no fewer than six states of the Federation were still indebted to their health personnel.

“Speaking about our welfare across board, we are pleased to identify with the Ogun State Government under Prince Dapo Abiodun for its various strategic initiatives aimed at giving the health sector a facelift and particularly not being indebted to our doctors and others across the State.

“Reports at our disposal had shown that some states are still in the business of owing our colleagues. These developments, we detest strongly,” he stated.

Dr Ayinla explained that the Association – a member of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) – was carved out as a result of its unique features. He also noted that the theme of the meeting – “The Importance of Supply Chain Management in Health Care System Strengthening” – was targeted at focusing on the supply aspect of service delivery to the citizenry.

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Adesanya Ayinde, noted that the present administration was not just paying lip service to the health sector across the State, but had kick-started the drive with various interventions, such as the provision of modern vital equipment to the State hospitals in Ijaiye (Abeokuta), Ilaro and Yewa South, as well as the immediate approval of the employment of health personnel into various cadres and categories.
