That our brother and friend, Dr Josiah Kehinde Olasupo, has gone to be with the Lord is the most devastating of the news one can receive at this time in our life.
The medical doctor who trained at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, transited to eternity on Wednesday January 21, 2026.
As Christians, we are not oblivious of what the Bible says of our existence on earth concerning death. But the reality of its occurrence jolted us the same way as it did non-Christians. We can only take consolation in our faith and firm believe that Dr Olasupo has gone to rest peacefully in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. And, that we shall meet in our due time and season to part no more.
In his book, “DIE EMPTY,” Todd Henry did his best to motivate people to pour out their ideas and potential energies in their communities and turn them into something useful before they leave this world.
The most beautiful of what he said in that book was: “Do not go to your grave and carry inside you the best that you have. Always choose to “DIE EMPTY.”
The TRUE meaning of this expression, “DIE EMPTY” is to pour, or deliver all the goodness that is in us to the world before we leave.
* If you have an idea, express it;
* If you have a knowledge, share it;
* If you have a goal, achieve it;
* If you have resources, assist the less privileged.
All these, our Brother and Friend, Kehinde Olasupo did. He “DIED EMPTY.”
Dr Kehinde Olasupo returned to Nigeria in 1988 after graduation from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary. He did the mandatory National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, and thereafter plunged into full medical practice.
In all the hospitals he set up, first at Agege and later at Alagbado and Ajegunle (Jungle City), Dr Kenny, as we used to call him, would treat patients first before asking for money. And where such patients did not have, he would ensure proper treatment and then discharge them. Free medical care uncommon in Nigeria’s private sector.
Dr Olasupo was humility personified. He was, since our days at the Origbo Community High School, Ipetumodu, in the early 70s, a very loyal friend and confidant to many of us, either as family friends, family doctor, colleagues at work, or uncle, cousin, nephew, or church members.
He was a faithful husband and an amiable companion to his darling wife, Olufunke, a.k.a Mama Ibeji, and, a very caring father to his three boys – Olufemi, Taiwo and Kehinde.
His legacy of kindness, selflessness, and dedication to saving lives will never be forgotten. He touched many families, including ours. No wonder testimonies of his good deeds were countless at the wake and outing services on Thursday and Friday September 29 and 30, 2026 respectively at his Ewekoro, Ogun State residence.
Whatever OMOKEHINDE was to whoever, and, wherever, one common denominator stood incontrovertible: KEHINDE OLASUPO was a very good Man.
May the Almighty God console the family and all the loved ones he left behind, and, grant his gentle soul eternal rest.
