Health kits meant for control against the spread of coronavirus have been distributed to the 27 LGA Chairnen of Jigawa State by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abba Zakari.
The kits comprised chemicals, hands sanitizers, among other medications meant to be used at the grassroots levels in the bid to ensure steady public health protection on rural communities against the spread of coronavirus.
The disbursement followed shortly after a one day sanitization meeting organised by the state Ministry of Health amongst all the chairmen, health officials and members of the state task force on coronavirus, headed by the state Commissioner of Health.
Dr. Zakari charged all the Council Chairmen to be proactive in areas of advocacy, preventive posture and cooperate with trained health officials for the success of the task force assignments.
Meanwhile the Jigawa State Government last Friday bared residents from hospital’s visitation while putting measures to contain the spread of the disease.
The head of COVID-19 taskforce in the state, Abba Zakari, said only one attendant is allowed to stay with a patient on admission in all the health facilities in the state henceforth.
“All visits to patients are suspended until further notice; the decision was made to protect the patients and health workers and to reduce the chances of COVID-19 transmission,” Zakari said.
