COVID-19: Jigawa cases rise to 118, seven discharged

As jigawa records 118 confirmed coronavirus cases, arrangements have been concluded by the state government towards the setting up of a Covid-19 testing centre  with about 180 testing capacity per day to bring to an end the burden of taking samples to other states for testing.
This was announced by Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar while giving update on Covid-19 pandemic during a press conference in  Dutse.
He stated that the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state has stood at 118, with two fatalities, while 53 per cent of the total number comprised of Almajiri’s that were  repertraited from neighboring states such as Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, among others.
He also said 7 covid 19 patients have been cured and discharged from the isolation center where they were receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the Governor said following a discussion with the council of ulama in the state, Juma’at prayers will be allowed to go on while observing measures set in places to prevent further spread of the virus.
However, Badaru Abubakar says all measures must  be strictly  followed after experts have projected the best possible case scenario may reach 800 cases, while the worst can be up 20,000 cases in the state.
In a related development, the wife of the jigawa state governor Hajia Magajiya Badaru Abubakar has launched the distribution of Northern Governors Wives Forum Palliatives Programs for vulnerable in DUTSE the jigawa state capital.
Speaking during the distribution which kicked-off at Muhammadu Subusu Durbar Playing Ground, Hajia Magajia said the items to be distributed include some large consignment’s of bags if Rice, Millet, vegetable oil and spaghetti.
She stated that the distribution of the palliative was to assist women in the month of Ramadan, as well to cushion the hardship of coronavirus pandemics on the people.
