COVID-19: JAMB orders disinfectant sprayers from NASENI

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has placed orders for the purchase of Disinfectant Sprayers produced by the National Agency for Science Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

This took place on Friday, 15th May, 2020, when JAMB met with top Management staff of NASENI in furtherance to their earlier meetings, according to a report by the current edition of JAMBulletin.

The weekly publication of the office of JAMB Registrar recalled that a few weeks ago, NASENI launched a range of technology produced tagged   “C O V I D – 1 9 Interventions” to assist the government to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

“The products included ventilators (designed and manufactured in Nigeria) to assist patients in breathing,

environmental disinfectant safety sprayers like NASENI Disinfectant Safety Tunnel O, Disinfectant Safety Tunnel U, the Single-Cham Disinfectant Sprayer, Keke NASENI Disinfectant Sprayer, as well

as Vehicle-Mounted Disinfectant Sprayers which could be mounted on both trucks and Hilux vans. All these pieces of equipment were locally designed and produced by NASENI Engineers to protect Nigerian cities and towns against the virus,” JAMBulletin noted.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, while welcoming the Management staff of NASENI, commended them for providing the needed support to the nation through relevant innovations at this critical moment when every nation is thinking of home-grown technology.

The JAMB Registrar however, urged NASEMA  to review the cost of their products downward so as to ensure wider patronage. Oloyede similarly advised NASENI to work on the aesthetics of the machines in order to compete favourably with those produced abroad.

He said, “NASENI Disinfectant Safety Sprayers have come handy even as we look forward to consolidating on our partnership with you and other similar organisations towards deploying more locally-produced equipment.”

He added that the entire workers at the Board’s Headquarters and Outstations would be sanitized before and after closing on a daily basis during the phased reopening. He stated that the Board would not want to take chances with the safety of its staff as it complied with the directive on the gradual easing of the lockdown.

He disclosed that before resumption of staff as directed by relevant agencies of g o v e r n m e n t , t h e B o a r d h a d decontaminated its Headquarters and all its other offices across the nation and stated that the procurement of the equipment would be an extra layer of protection for the staff.

The Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI, Prof. Mohammad Haruna, expressed his appreciation to the Registrar for his patriotism especially at a period when many are fixated on foreign products. He assured the Registrar that the equipment that would be supplied to the Board would meet all the specifications agreed upon with the Board in terms of aesthetics, added features and durability.
