Covid-19: FG disburses palliatives to Jigawa

The Federal Government has disbursed 150 trucks of food stuffs as palliatives to cushion the effects of Covid-19 to the people of Jigawa State, the state Governor, Alh. Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar has disclosed.
Presently the state government has taken the delivery of 110 out of the 150 trucks which comprised rice, millet, guinea- corn, and maize, among others. These would be distributed to 358,000 people in the state.
According to the governor, distribution will be on ratio of 100 tonnes on 10kg per ward to at-least 100 people per each of the twenty seven local government areas across Jigawa State.
He stated that a five man distribution committee comprising local government chairman, religious and community leaders, councilors and the DPO of each of the respective councils to ensure equity, and justice had been set up.
The idea was to ensure only the worst affected victims of Covid-19 pandemic were attended to based on justice and fairness amongst the people and the officials.
On Covid-19, Governor Badaru stated that the state has not recorded any case of the menace in the last one month, saying “I am glad to inform you that we’ve been stable of Covid-19 syndrome.”
“Since the prevalence of Covid-19, we only recorded ten deaths, three in our isolation centres, while others died outside the centres. At the moment we have ordered for the closure of two of our isolation centres, Fanisau and Rashid Shekoni isolation centres”
Governor Badaru attributed the success of containing Covid-19 syndrome to the collaborative efforts of both the people and the state government more especially members of the state task force on Covid-19.
He called on the people to uphold Covid-19 protocol as part of preventive measures to avert future reoccurrence of the menace.
