The Honourable Member Representing Askira/Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency in Borno state, Hon Dr Haruna Mshelia has donated assorted number of Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers, Antiseptic Soaps and Geepee Water Tanks with taps to each of the five General Hospitals in his constituency to fight and prevent the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic.
The Lawmaker who is a Medical Doctor by Profession also donated Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials which contained enlightenment messages on COVID -19 infection and ways of prevention of infection as a guide to members of his constituency and also to improve their personal hygiene to stay safe.
Donating the items to the general hospitals in Marama, Azare, Uba, Askira and Lassa Communities, Dr. Haruna said, “the gesture became necessary to support the state Government, particularly the High Powered Response Team for the Control and prevention of COVID -19 headed by His Excellency the Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur”.
While commending His Excellency, the Executive Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for setting up the high Powered Response Team against COVID -19, Dr. Haruna noted the very wonderful job the Committee are doing, with Borno among the few states that has not recorded a single case of COVID-19 Infection.
He enjoined the people of his constituency, especially those visiting the benefitting Health Facilities to always make good use of the Hand sanitizers or properly wash their hands with soap and water which have been provided at all entry points.
He equally advise that people should continue to maintain social distancing, and avoid public gatherings where necessary to ensure safety of lives.
Recalled that, early this year, the Lawmaker brought relief items worth millions of naira and distributed them to victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the constituency. End
