COVID-19: 44,000 Americans repatriated from Nigeria, 77 other countries

The US Department of State has of April 6, 2020 repatriated, or helped to repatriate, over 44,000 American citizens from 78 countries, including Nigeria.

This was disclosed on the official Facebook page of the US Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday, April 07, 2020.

According to the statement, “A U.S. repatriation flight departed Lagos yesterday with 376 American citizens aboard. The Washington Dulles International Airport bound flight was one of a series of repatriation flights for American citizens in Nigeria. U.S. Consul General Claire Pierangelo noted that “the first priority of the Department of State is the safety of American citizens overseas. For that reason, throughout the world, we are working to ensure that Americans who want to return home are able to get home.” As of April 6, the Department of State has repatriated, or helped to repatriate, over 44,000 American citizens from 78 countries.”
