A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Bayelsa State on grounds of illegality.
One of the PDP gubernatorial contestants, Timi Alaibe, had approached the Federal High Court after the Bayelsa PDP primary in the state, claiming that the primaries were manipulated and held through a flawed process.
Alaibe later wrote to the (then acting) CJ of the FHC, Justice John Tsoho requesting the trial be moved to Abuja citing security concerns in the state as a major reason to seek the transfer of the case. The CJ agreed and the case was transferred to Abuja.
The Abuja Court has handed down its order agreeing with Alaibe that the Bayelsa PDP was fraught with irregularities and illegality ordered the cancellation and nullification of the PDP primaries.
