The Caretaker Committee of the Ogun State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked information making the rounds that Chief Derin Adebiyi has been reinstated as the State chairman of the party by a court of law.
Tunde Oladunjoye, Publicity Secretary of
Ogun APC Caretaker Committee made the clarification in a press statement issued on Thursday night.
The press statement reads:
Court Did Not Reinstate APM’s Derin Adebiyi as APC Chairman
This is to clarify to the general public and the authentic APC members in Ogun State, that the lies being spread by the Allied People’s Movement (APM), members claiming an Abuja High Court has reinstated Chief Derin Adebiyi, and others who have been lawfully suspended by the APC National body since December 18, 2018 for their disloyal anti-party activities, is nothing but a deliberate attempt to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.
The effort by the claimants’ lawyer, from Kanu Agabi Chambers, to move motion for injunction to restrain the Oshin APC Caretaker Committee from performing and using the party’s state secretariat was opposed in view of APC’s pending application challenging court jurisdiction on several grounds. The case was thereafter adjourned till 26th November 2019 for hearing of preliminary objection by the defendants and application for injunction by the plaintiffs.
The “status quo” is that the Caretaker Committee is in place. The Court never said status quo ante bellum. The misinformation is deliberate and true to the character of the APM members who want together claim the structures of a party they shamelessly abandoned in their desperate shadow-chasing in the March 2019 general elections.
Our loyal members should stay calm and confident. The have no reason to worry about.
In the statement issued by former Publicity Secretary, Chief Wole Elegbede, he wrote that: “Justice Okeke also ruled: “In the interim, parties are directed to maintain the status quo as at today with respect to the subject matter of the suit pending the hearing and determination of the above applications.”
It is therefore embarrassing and self-debasing for these elements not to even understand simple English language that they wrote with their hands: status quo as at today.
Anyway, it’s their established pattern: they celebrated victory before the announcements of the governorship election results. They celebrated victory before the tribunal judgment. Now, they are celebrating a case that has not even been heard by the judge.
Therefore, any reinstatement rumor should be disregarded as their characteristic pattern of self-deceit.
