The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, FCNA, has advised the President and Chairman of the Council of Chartered Institthe President and Chairman of the Council of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokersute of Stockbrokers to commission research into local agriculture with capacity to enhance the growth of the economy.

According to the AGF, there are a lot of potentials to be harnessed from agricultural research in such a way it will create more derivatives and opportunities in agriculture for the benefit of the institute and economy, noting that this is besides other benefits the Institute can give Nigerians.

Ahmed Idris stated this when he received the President and Chairman of the Council of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Olatunde Amolegbe, and his team who paid him a courtesy visit.

He said, “One of our major duties as Treasury Managers is to play a critical role in shaping and strengthening the economic activities … the main reason our services are very important in all aspects of the economy.”

The AGF described the visit as one of its kind, stressing that the kind of synergy the visit is about to lay, will, no doubt, help the growth of the economy. He described the CIS as the key manager of the Stocks of the economy by harnessing private sector into the nation’s economy, emphasizing that a collaboration between the OAGF and the CIS will, no doubt, bring a fantastic system, and therefore, availed the institute the opportunity to use the Federal Treasury Academy for its activities, describing the Federal Treasury Academy Orozo, as convenient environment for training.

In his remarks, the President and Chairman of Council, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers Olatunde Amolegbe, expressed gratitude to the AGF for accommodating them and also for his untiring efforts to continually improve the process of accountability in the country despite daunting challenges in the operating environment.

Amolegbe intimated the AGF of the various roles of the CIS and availed him of the Special Membership Scheme which will allow senior staff members of the OAGF to become chartered professionals in securities and investment profession as well as other training programmes for staff.

He sought for sponsorship of OAGF and collaboration in their annual conference and workshop/dinner, adding that the national workshop is a forum for the Institute to contribute to national discourse in order to promote economic growth and development in Nigeria./ SHARE THIS
