President Muhammadu Buhari has taken the oath of office for his second term
He was sworn in by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad at a colourful ceremony held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
- President Buhari, his wife, the CJN and a judicial officer
The ceremony was witnessed by scores of Nigerians and members of the diplomatic corps.
Unlike previous inaugurations, the president did not give a speech.
This will however be done on June 12, which has been re-designated as Democracy Day in honour of the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by the late philanthropist, Bashorun MKO Abiola which was later annulled by the then military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.)
