
Just as he had hoped four years ago but failed, this year, Senator Ademola Adeleke will dance to Government House , Osogbo as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has formally affirmed his victory at the election held yesterday.
The INEC Chief Returning Officer for Osun, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who announced the result this morning said the PDP candidate scored 403,371 votes to emerge victorious.
The runner-up, incumbent Gboyega Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 375,027 votes.
“I hereby declare that Ademola Adeleke having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected,” Ogundipe said.
PDP also won in the majority of the state’s local governments. It won in 17 of Osun’s 30 local governments while the APC won in 13.
A video clip that has gone viral showed Senator Ademola shedding tears of joy amidst friends and relations in his house as INEC made the announcement.
