Security men at the Federal High Court in Abuja today refused to save Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, as scores of hoodlums attacked him while he was about to enter the court.
The attack on Sowore began when he complained about not being allowed to go into the court. He had said: “A court room is not complete except people are there to witness proceedings. I want to sit right in front of the judge and witness it all.
“They have assured us that Kanu will get justice. He is my friend and I should be here. But the security agencies are still not allowing me in.”
Emboldened by the security men’s nonchalant attitude, the hoodlums descended fully Sowore, slapping and punching him.
The law enforcement agents only intervened after those present started shouting for his rescue.
As the hoodlums began to leave after dealing Sowore blows, those around began shouting that they must be arrested. Some members of the public even chased the hoodlums to apprehend them as the security operatives looked on unconcerned.
However, before the situation could become a free for all, the security operatives moved in and apprehended a couple of the hoodlums.
