The Lagos State Government has disclosed that it lost 80 Bus Rapid Transit buses worth N3.9billion in the arson perpetrated by hoodlums at Oyingbo and Ojodu Berger areas of the state during the EndSARS protest.
Gbenga Omotosho, commissioner for Information, said that 27 of the buses cost $200,000 each while 57 of them cost $100,000 each.
The Lagos State Police Command on its part said that 25 police stations were attacked and razed by hoodlums. The stations were Orile, Amukoko, Layeni, Ilasamaja, Ikotun, Ajah, Igando, Elemoro, Makinde, Onipanu, Ebute Ero, Pen-Cinema, Isokoko, Alade, Cele, Igbo Elerin, Shibiri, Gbagada, Onilekere, Makoko, Daleko, Asahun, Makinyo, Amuwo-Odofin and Anti-Kidnapping, Surulere. Those vandalised but not burnt were Ojo, Ojodu, Mowo, PPL and Morogbo.
Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, a superintendent of police, said: “We lost four personnel including an assistant superintendent of police. Over 50 policemen were injured and on admission. The injured include about five divisional police officers. It was a serious wave of attacks.”
He said that over 100 hoodlums who participated in the arson and looting of the police stations, as well as the sacking of banks and malls in the Lekki and Surulere areas, had also been arrested by the command.
