
The Abuja Division of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, today October , 15, reinstated the acting Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Dauda, who was dismissed on March 6, 2018. Dauda was also awarded N1m as damage against the defendants.
Dauda had asked the court to determine the legality or otherwise of the procedure adopted by the defendants in the matter followed due process in line with Article 8(1) and (2) of the National Securities Agency Act (CAPS 278) 1986.
In the suit tagged ‘NICN/ ABJ/136/2018’, the plaintiff also asked the court to determine the legality of the purported letter of dismissal to him and adjudicate if it was, indeed, not unlawful, null and void and of no consequence whatsoever.
Earlier before today, the Abuja Division of the National Industrial Court had refused to grant stay of proceeding order in the suit filed by Ambassador Dauda challenging his purported dismissal from office by the agency.
