Forty Almajiris, two health workers from Rasheed Shekoni and FMC Birnin kudu have so far tested positive for Covid- 19 virus in Jigawa state.
This brings the total number of Almajiris that were tested positive in the state to 40 in the last few days.
The commissioner of Health Dr Abba Zakari disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse.
According to him, the results of hundred Almajiris returned from the health authorities out of which 76 of them tested negative, bringing the total number of returned results to 145 out of 607.
Dr Zakari further explained that 76 of the Almajiris would be returning home, while others that tested positive would be kept in isolation until they tested otherwise.
Jigawa has been keeping over a thousand Almajiris that were repatriated from other states in the country at the NYSC camp in Kiyawa local government in order to prevent the possible spread of covid 19 in the state.
Meanwhile, Jigawa State health workers are to enjoy intensive medical training on Covid-19 related issues, to keep them abreast with up to date knowledge and skills in confronting the exit of the deadly pandemic.
This was announced by the Presidential task force in charge of North- west, Dr. Sani Gwarzo and his team while on courtesy visit to Governor Badaru at the government house Dutse.
He said our presence in jigawa was at the instance of Governor Badaru, who solicited for further medical advise on how to address critical needs and challenges on the fight against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Gwarzo advise jigawa state government to expedite its testing capacity or possibly the quest for setting up a mobile lab test specifically on Covid-19.
