Vendors and Service Providers Association (VESPA), Borno state chapter yesterday donated 1,200 set of wrappers to assist the campaign team of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Goni Dunoma led his Secretary, Hon. Yusuf Markus Sawa and other 14 members to Government House, Maiduguri for the presentation of the items.
The Chairman and Secretary of the Association while handing over the donated items to governor Kashim Shettima and the hopeful gubernatorial candidate, Professor Zulum said, the association with over 10,000 registered members contributed from their individual pockets, considering the immense support the association received from the present administration.
The Association which are Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of group of companies working under the same umbrella (VESPA), with some of their activities are, retailers, provision store dealers, GSM service providers, transporters, construction engineers, contractors, suppliers of Non Food Itmens (NFI) said, its members had faced a lot of difficulties in doing business during the height of Boko Haram sect, but with the coming on board of President Muhammadu Buhari and governor Kashim Shettima in 2015, things changed for the better, as most roads were reopened to link all the liberated communities, a situation that boosted their economic fortunes in the state.
The Association said, they are committed to mobilize and converse votes for Professor Zulum for continuity, as they have tentacles from all over the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Receiving the items, governor Shettima thanked the Association for the donation, which he said, would go along way in assisting the less privilege in the society.
He called on other associations to emulate VESPA, as government alone cannot meet the yearnings and aspirations of its people, who were mostly affected by the destruction posed by insurgents in the state.
Shettima however urged all eligible voters to come out on Saturday 9th March, 2019 to cast their votes to candidates of their choice for a better Borno, as adequate security arrangement would be provide for peaceful, free and fair elections across the state.
