The Borno State Government under the leadership of Governor Professor Babagana Zulum is to embark on the reconstruction of about 45km Biu- Garkida federal roads which has been in a deplorable condition for decades but neglected.

The road which linked many communities of Kigir, Kinging, Marama, Yimishika, Sabin Kasuwa,  Azare, Shaffa and of Biu and Hawul  Local Government Areas remained a death trap for over 30 years.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur when he paid a Sallah Homage to the Emir of Biu, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mai Umar Mustapha at his Palace on Tuesday.

He said, government is more concern on the plight of the citizenry, adding that reconstructing the roads will not only ease transportation problems, but link other parts of Adamawa state for economic businesses.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor,  Kadafur who was among the thousands of worshipers who performed their two Rakaat prayers in Biu town together with the Emir of Biu, Member House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu kimba, Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Elders and politicians urged the people of the emirate to unite together and support the new government which he described has a lot of development plans to the people irrespective of ethnic, religious or political consideration.

The Deputy Governor also informed that government’s intention to complete the construction of local government Secretariat as well as construction of 200 housing units in Biu town among others.

He therefore thanked the people for their support both during elections and peaceful inauguration of the new government, and assured of government intention to bring development to the door step of the people in the state
