The candidature of All Progressives Congress (APC )Gubernatorial standard bearer, Professor Babagana Zullum and his deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur, as well as that of Governor Kashim Shettima for the senate of Borno Central senatorial zone and other candidates of the APC, have been officially endorsed by the Green Cap Movement: an amalgamation of supporters of other aspirants who lost out in the primaries for the various positions.
The event which took place at the Gwange ward of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, MMC on Sunday had in attendance key stakeholders of the APC including the State Chairman, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, the governorship standard bearer, Professor Babagana Zullum, and other candidates, two of the aspirants who lost out in the governorship aspirants, Attom Magira and Alkali Umar Nasco, as well as the Deputy Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Arc. Waziri Bulama, Borno State coordinator of the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, Alkali Aji Kolo, member of the Advisory Council of the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team,Hon. Yusuf Adamu, as well as former Commissioner of Information in Borno State and Secretary of the Publicity committee of the Babagana Umara Zullum Campaign Council, Inuwa Bwala, amongst others.
Speaking at the occasion, Attom Magira, who spoke on behalf of the other aspirants said, Borno has more serious issues that require collective approach and does not enjoy the luxury of fighting over positions now.
According to him, the other aspirants conceded the ticket to Professor Babagana Zullum for the sake of unity and peace of Borno State, and the collective open endorsement was symbolic of their resolve to work for the victory of the APC at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
Professor Umara Zullum has meanwhile commended the donation of five campaign vehicles, seven offices and cash donations for the take off of his campaigns and that if other candidates by the aspirants who lost out to him.
Chairman of the APC in Borno State, Ali Bukar Dalori who announced the donations to the campaign council also announced various cash donations by all the aspirants whose candidature were endorsed, even as he assured the people that the Professor and others that are going to work with him will not disappoint the people of the state if given the opportunity.
While calling on the people to come out and vote the APC massively, Dalori added that, the people of Borno State stands to benefit from a Zullum governorship and a Buhari Presidency, than any other contraption that may tend to mislead them.
Professor Babagana Zullum on his part told the gathering that he is coming into governance with a clear blue print that will seek to build on the efforts put into restoring peace to Borno State through vigorous reconstructing, rebuilding and resettling displaced communities across the state.
Zullum emphasized on security, education, agriculture, health health and infrastructural development as the fulcrum of his leadership strategy.
As it is, the Professor Babagana Zullum campaign Council is to be innaugrated on Monday January 28th, by the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, even as the campaigns are billed to start in earnest immediately after.
