Members of the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, rained bombs and rockets on Maiduguri, the capital f Borno State, yesterday. When the smoke cleared, at least 10 persons were confirmed dead while at least three scores were injured 60 injured.
The latest incident occurred barely a week after General Buratai, former chief of Army Staff and an indigene of the state said it would take Nigeria 20 ears to defeat the insurgents
Nine of the dead were young boys hit by a bomb while playing football at Gwange ward.
The military, however, said it repelled the attack
Governor Babagana Zulum said he was shocked by the attack and sympathised with those affected.
“We have been informed that about 10 persons were killed and 60 were injured. This is a new form of attack, totally different from the usual suicide bombing. It is worrisome and there is an urgent need to strategise to forestall further occurrence,” the governor said.
