Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), David Lyon has defeat Senator Douye Diri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge winner of the governorship election in Bayelsa.
He polled 352,552 votes to defeat Diri 143,172 votes scored by the PDP as declared by the Returning Officer, Prof. Faraday Orumwese.

Lyon, 49 had hailed INEC for its conduct of the election in the state on Saturday.
It is the first time since 1999 that Bayelsa State will be held by a government of another party, other than the PDP.
