Banks in Akoko area of Ondo State turned back customers on Friday and were put under lock and key following information that some Boko Haram terrorists were planning to carry out attacks on banks in the state.

What apparently caused the scare was a letter said to be from a security agency, which was allegedly sent to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie, that the terror group was planning to attack banks in Akure, the state capital, Owo and Akoko areas of the state.

The proposed date of the attack, according to the letter, was Friday, November 1, 2019.

Fearing that the attack would take place, banks in the four Local Government Areas of the Akoko North-West, Akoko North-East, Akoko South-West and Akoko South-East refused to open for business.
