A serving Assistant Inspector General of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, has just died, soon after his appointment as a commander of one of the police zones in the country.
Yusuf died late yesterday night, Saturday August 29, not long after he was appointed the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 14, Katsina, Katsina State, over an undisclosed illness. He was one of the AIGs appointed by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to take charge of the newly created police zonal commands in the country, and had not assumed duties before the death occurred.
Breaking the news via his official WhatsApp platform yesterday night, Katsina State police spokesman, Gambo Isah, a Superintendent of Police, said, “The death has been announced of AIG Zone 14, Katsina, AIG Rabi’u Yusuf. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdausi.”
This death is coming six months after a retired AIG, Alhaji Hamisu Ali Jos, who was also the Sole Administrator of the state, had also died, precisely on February 25.
Ali Jos was a Commissioner of Police in the state and later appointed State Administrator under the late General Sani Abacha regime.
