The Caretaker Committee of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the dissolution of Ogun Waterside Local Government administration by Gov Ibikunle Amosun.

The condemnation was conveyed in a press statement signed by  Tunde Oladunjoye Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.

The statement read: “Information reaching us now indicate that, the Executive Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government, Hon Femi Onanuga, has just been “impeached” by his Councillors on the orders of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for his open support for the APC gubernatorial candidate,
Prince Dapo Abiodun.
“Latest Intelligence Report at our disposal revealed that more Council Chairmen, Councilors, Commissioners, Chairmen and members of statutory boards have been slated for dismissal as a result of their principled support for their party’s gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.Of course, the latest act of impunity confirms the alarm that party has raised in the recent past.
“The illegal act of dissolving an elected local government administration by a state governor has been roundly condemned and decided against by the Supreme Court, the highest court in Nigeria, which described such action, in the words of Justice Centus Nweze, as “tantamount to executive recklessness  which would not be condoned”.
“The APC condemns in totality,  this intolerant, illegal and provocative act by Governor Amosun in his desperate and greedy bid to continue to indirectly hold on to  the reigns of power in Ogun State  even after leaving office.
“While demanding the immediate reinstatement of the “impeached” Council Chairman, we are using this medium to again call on President Muhammadu Buhari, whose name the Governor has always been dropping, to call Governor Ibikunle  Amosun to order before he , by his own acts, set Ogun State on fire.”
