Former Secretary of the Defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Borno state, Hon. Yusuf Adamu has commended governor of the state, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for allocating lion share of N23 billion to Education sector out of the total sum of N134.5 Billion for the year 2020.This is even as he advised the State Government to work out modalities aimed at strengthening Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), considering that fact that the State which has been ravaged by more than 10 -year atrocities by insurgents cannot truly progress solely by depending on the Federal Statutory Allocations. He stated this in an interview with newsmen at his residence in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

Adamu while reacting to the 2020 Appropriation Bill earlier presented to the State House of Assembly last Monday by Governor Zulum for scrutiny and assent, said, the Budget is best described as “Budget of Hope” to the traumatized people in the state.

His words: ” I am particularly impressed with the contents of the 2020 Budget, where the Governor announced allocations of  N23 billion for education sector, out of  which, N9.1 was earmarked for higher education with greater emphasis on the Borno State University(BOSU).

“This is in addition to plans to build seven primary, secondary and higher schools next year.

“Also, N19.1 billion was allocated to the ministry of finance which is to fund series of government procurements; N11.6 for Health & Human service, N9.2 billion for reconstruction of communities destroyed by insurgents, N7 Billion for roads and other infrastructures, N5.3 billion for the state assembly’s projects, N4.4 billion for major housing estates and N4 billion for agriculture.

“It will interest you to know that in the coming fiscal year (2020), this administration promised to construct (2) new mega schools in Wuyo and Chibok, and (2) technical schools in Mbalala and Bulabulin (Maiduguri).

“It also said it will construct (3) new Higher Islamic Secondary schools in Dikwa, Monguno and Biu Local Government Areas. “This administration would also in 2020, rehabilitate and reopen secondary schools currently closed in Monguno, Damasak, Gajiram, Gubio, Dikwa, Ngala, Konduga, Bama and Gwoza towns, with plan to also construct 72 classrooms across the state and rehabilitate 27 blocks of two classrooms. This is highly commendable indeed.” He stated. He called on the people of the state to be patience, and continue support the present administration to actualize its mission and vision as enshrined in the 10-pact Agenda in developing the state
