Speaking on a television program, Senior Special Assistant, to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu, said,” the executive powers of this nation are invested in the President and nobody can exercise that power without the Say So of Mr President, therefore the Minister is simply carrying out a Presidential directive”.

He stressed further that “If you’re appointed into an executive position as you have seen in the case of the NDDC, you cannot do all that without the approval of the president. “

Shehu, who stated this while featuring on a Cable TV News Programme, confirmed that ” Akpabio is exercising the authority of Mr President under the Constitution, by his own mandate.”

He said “It is not in doubt whatsoever that Mr President gave approval for the constitution and inauguration of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) for the Commission. Nobody can enter an office of that nature without the President saying so.”
