The Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, FNSE, FAEng, FNIWE, has been inducted into the Nigeria’s Construction Industry Hall of Fame 2021.

In an elaborate induction ceremony held on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021, at the Sheraton Lagos, Ikeja, Lagos, the dynamic, erudite and seasoned engineer was honoured alongside other distinguished professionals who had excelled in giving high profile  contributions in the Construction Industry, among whom were the Executive Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu; President, Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Engr. Alex Ogedegbe; former Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Vice President, World Federation of Engineers, Engr. Mustapha Shehu, among others.

The Honourable Minister was represented at this ceremony by the Managing Director/ CEO, Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority, Olufemi Odumosu, who had the honour of being decorated with a golden medal and received the award plague, on behalf of the Honourable Minister.

Odumosu, while congratulating the Honourable Minister, said that he has no doubt that the giant strides already achieved by him in moving Nigeria’s water resources development for agricultural, domestic and other economic purposes, is a clear testimony, with this special recognition and honour bestowed on him.

He described the Honourable Minister as an innovative and highly resourceful technocratic leader who has greatly transformed the infrastructural base and construction in the water sector of the country through his diverse wealth of professional engineering and business experience, especially with the drive initiatives of the Water Resources Roadmap, Water Resources Bill, National Water Resources Policy and the National Irrigation and Drainage Policy as endorsed by the Federal Executive Council under the able leadership of H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Recognition was also made of the role of the Honourable Minister in currently leading the initiative to ensure that Nigeria attains the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG6) by collaboration with various stakeholders under the programmes “Partnership for Expanded Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH) and approval of a National Action Plan on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) with the declaration of a State of Emergency on the sector in April, 2018 and the emerging Presidential Executive Order No 009 in February 2018 and the campaign against Open Defecation with the launch of the Clean Nigeria; Use the Toilet, in November, 2019.

Dignitaries that also graced the occasion were; the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Works & Infrastructure, Engr. (Mrs) Aramide Adeyoye; President, Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Sir Emmanuel Wike; President, Nigerian Institute for Quantity Surveyors, QS Mohammed Abba Tor, Deputy Managing Director, Inter-Bau Construction Limited, Mrs Doris Mbadiwe, among others./SHARE THIS
