President Buhari condemns terrorists’ attack on Katsina vigilantes

President Muhammadu Buhari today condemned the attack on vigilantes at Yargoje Forest in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, where many lives were lost.
It would be recalled that the Terrorists had engaged security personnel group known as Yansakai in Katsina State, leading to the death at least 41 persons.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.
He stated the Yansakai outlawed group, from eleven (11) villages in Bakori LGA, regrouped and went after the terrorists with a view to recovering the rustled domestic animals.
The police spokesman said that the outlawed group further traced the footpath of the hoodlums to a location at Yargoje forest where the terrorists planned and launched a coordinated ambush on the group.
“The hoodlums shot and killed 41 Yansakai and wounded two. Area Commander, Malumfashi, led a team of policemen to the scene and recovered the corpses and took the injured persons to Kankara General, Hospital,” the statement read.
In a statement issued by President Buhari’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja, the president paid tributes to the vigilantes and their family members.
He said the sacrifices of the brave men who were working to prevent and punish crime in their communities would not be forgotten.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult period. May Allah repose the souls of the deceased,” the president said.
