The scarcity of the newly redesigned naira notes endemic in the country will soon be a thing of the past, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured.

The president gave the assurance on Saturday, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
According to him, the CBN and deposit money banks were currently putting functional mechanisms in place to tackle the trend, saying: “a number of initiatives by the Central Bank and all commercial banks are underway to speed up distribution of the new notes and do all that is necessary to forestall cash squeeze and chaos.”
Buhari who was reacting to viral reports of long queues of people waiting for hours to deposit old notes and get new ones, assured that the government would ensure that “citizens are not harmed in their businesses and no disruption is caused to the entire supply chain arising from the currency swap due to end shortly.”/SHARE THIS
