The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Saturday’s Anambra governorship election inconclusive, on account of inability of the election to hold in 362 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state following purported security threat. This is even as All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and its candidate, Prof Chukwuma Soludo with unassailable lead and his team of followers are already rolling out drums in celebration.
The Returning Officer for the guber poll, Prof. Florence Obi, said
a supplementary election will now be conducted on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in line with constitutional provision.
She cited the 1999 Constitution in declaring the poll inconclusive, insisting that election must hold in the 362 polling units for the process to be deemed conclusive.
Reported insecurity in Ihiala area was said to have been the reason for election not being held there./SHARE THIS
